| Decided spur of the moment to visit Lantau
Island. We (Jonathan, Emma and I) went to McDonald's for some breakfast
then off to the Star Ferry. From McDonald's we took a minibus.
Unfortunately we didn't have any small change to we paid double the fare.
Then at the Star Ferry, Jonathan and I went through different turnstiles,
it turns out he paid for deluxe seating. All deluxe seating means is the
upper deck where you can sit outside. |

Nevertheless, we made it to Lantau and took a bus to see the Big Buddha.
Here we are on the bus. The bus ride was HK$25 and we were able to use our
Octopus card for the trip. |
| Here I am with the world's largest outdoor
bronze Buddha. This Buddha is 22 meters high. Apparently here are larger
Buddhas out there, but they are not seated, outdoors, or bronze. |

We ate a vegetarian meal at the monastery then
walked up to the pedestal.
Beautiful trees in the area. |
| The inside courtyard of the monastery. Jonathan
is standing in the circular doorway. |

We were very ambitious and wanted to climb
Lantau Peak, the second highest peak in Hong Kong at 934 meters. Only the
Tai Mo Shan in the New Territories is higher. Here were are at the
entrance. |
| The peak. Didn't look to strenuous. |

On the ascent.
Emma is a couple
steps below Jonathan. |
|

Finally the summit. |

|
View of the airport from the peak. |
|
The Buddha is barely visible from the peak. |

|
On the way down, we were much happier and much
more tired. |
